Energy Transfer donates $5,000 to Upper Allen youth baseball organization
Funds help Cumberland County program purchase field maintenance equipment
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — The Upper Allen Mechanicsburg Baseball Association will improve its facilities for players and families thanks to a $5,000 grant presented Wednesday by Energy Transfer.
The organization is making updates to fencing, lighting and concession stand facilities for the youth baseball program, and the funds will be used to purchase a new tractor to maintain the fields, Upper Allen Mechanicsburg Baseball Association President Doug Marsico said.
“We’re really excited,” Upper Allen Township Commissioner Ken Martin said after the event. “When we see private partners like Energy Transfer contributing back to the township and our youth program, that shows that they’re invested not only for the economic benefit, but they really want to help the quality of life in the township.”
Energy Transfer presented a check for $5,000 to league officials Wednesday as part of its Mariner East pipeline system outreach efforts.
“We really think it’s important to continue to invest in the communities in which we operate and we all live in,” Energy Transfer senior project engineer Adam Thomas said. “It’s important to me; I know I grew up playing baseball, and I think it shaped my character, and I’m happy to be here today to distribute this check."
